Christmas dinner menu ideas


Pomegranate and Cranberry Bruschetta

This is a delicious appetizer that will satisfy everyone’s taste bud. Place cranberry, ginger, sugar, honey, and Sriracha in a food processor and pulse. Add cilantro and pulse a few more times. Transfer to a container and add orange zest and refrigerate for 2 hours. Place baguette on baking pans. Brush lightly with oil and sprinkle salt and pepper. Bake for 14- 18 minutes. To assemble bruschetta, whisk cream cheese until creamy. Spread about ½-1 tablespoon on each crostini. Top with a scoop of the relish. Garnish with a bit of orange zest, if desired.



Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, egg, water, bread crumbs, and minced onion. Next, bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes. In a slow cooker or large saucepan over low heat, add cranberry sauce, chili sauce, brown sugar, and lemon juice.


Caesar salad

In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg yolk, lemon juice, garlic, Worcestershire, pepper flakes, mustard, and anchovies. Slowly whisk in the oils to emulsify. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper. Place the lettuce in a large bowl. Sprinkle with Parmesan and black pepper.


Shrimp pineapple skewers

Soak 8 to 10 wooden skewers in water, 15 minutes. Heat a grill or grill pan to medium-high. Clean and lightly oil hot grill. Thread shrimp, pineapple, and scallions onto skewers. Grill until shrimp begin to turn opaque, 2 minutes. Brush with sauce, flip and brush again.


Roasted rib

Preheat oven to 225 degrees. Season the ribs with your favorite grill seasoning, or simply salt and pepper. Next, place ribs, meat side down, in baking dishes. Cover the baking dishes with aluminum foil and place in the oven. When finish baking drain off the drippings. Flip the ribs over using two spatulas so that you can cook the other side. Put a layer of BBQ sauce on the ribs and return to the oven uncovered for an additional 20-30 minutes.


Roasted turkey

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Place rack in the lowest position of the oven. Remove the turkey neck and giblets, rinse the turkey, and pat dry with paper towels. Place the turkey, breast-side up, on a rack in the roasting pan. Loosely fill the body cavity with stuffing. Rub the skin with the softened butter, and season with salt and pepper. Position an aluminum foil tent over the turkey. Place turkey in the oven, and pour 2 cups turkey stock into the bottom of the roasting pan. Baste all over every 30 minutes with the juices on the bottom of the pan. Remove aluminum foil after 2 1/2 hours. Roast until a meat thermometer inserted in the meaty part of the thigh reads 180 degrees F. Transfer the turkey to a large serving platter, and let it stand for at least 20 to 30 minutes before carving.



Christmas ham

Preheat the oven to fan 160C. Scatter the onion, ginger, thyme and cloves over the base of a large, deep roasting tin. Cover the whole ham and tin with two or three layers of foil sealing the foil around the edges of the tin. Bake for 1½ hours, then reduce the oven to fan 140C/conventional 160C/gas 3 for the remaining 2 hours 40 minutes of the cooking time. When the ham is cooked, remove it from the oven. Leave to rest for 30 minutes. You can glaze the ham with a sauce of your choice and serve.



Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large skillet, cook and stir ground beef until brown. Add mushrooms and onions. Then stir in pasta sauce, and heat through. In a medium size bowl, combine cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, and eggs. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 13×9 inch pan. Layer with uncooked lasagna noodles, cheese mixture, mozzarella cheese, and meat sauce. Continue layering until all ingredients are used, reserving 1/2 cup mozzarella. Cover pan with aluminum foil. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes. Uncover, and top with remaining half cup of mozzarella cheese. Bake for an additional 15 minutes. Remove from oven, and let stand 10 to 15 minutes before serving.


Sweet potato casserole

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Mash the sweet potatoes and add the melted butter, milk, sugar, vanilla, beaten eggs, and a pinch of salt. Combine the butter, brown sugar, flour, and pecan pieces in a small bowl, using your fingers to create moist crumbs. Sprinkle generously over the casserole.


Christmas chutney

Sterilize your jars by washing them well in soapy water, then rinse them and let them dry in a cool. If you’re putting warm chutney into them, all jars must be warm. Put apples, onion, cranberries and dates into a large pan. Zest the satsumas over the top, then squeeze the juice and scrape in the pulp. Add the sugar, ground cloves, ginger, cinnamon and cayenne pepper, then pour the vinegar over and sprinkle the salt. Now all you have to do is give a good stir, turn on the heat, bring to a boil, then turn down the heat and let it bubble uncovered for about an hour. Spoon into your warm, prepared jars and seal.


Christmas gravy

Heat the oil in a non-stick pan, then fry the onion, carrot and bay, stirring frequently until the onion is golden. Stir in the flour, then pour in the stock while stirring. Simmer for 15 minutes. Discard the bay leaf, then purée the contents of the pan with a hand blender until completely smooth. Cool, then chill. When you take the turkey from the oven, pour the juices from the tin into a deep but narrow jug or bowl. Leave to stand so that excess oil from the turkey rises to the top. Skim off as much fat as you can and discard, then pour the juices into a pan with the gravy base and stir over the heat until bubbling. Season to taste.


Cranberry cocktail

It can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic to cater to different people. You add frozen fruit such as cranberry, raspberry, blueberries and blackberries for decoration and flavor. Next add ice, cranberry juice, pink lemonade, sparkling water, and stir. If you want it to be alcoholic and then add alcohol.



Brownies are yummy desserts that you can make for desserts. You need 3/4 cup of flour, cocoa, chocolate chip, 3/4salted butter, 3 eggs, and 1 cup of sugar. Melt your butter then add chocolate chip and mix. Pour in all the sugar and mixed and then let the mixture cool. After the mixture is cool add the egg, flour, and cocoa powder. Mix the mixture and pour in a baking pan. Bake for about 30 minutes at 325 degrees.



Fruitcake is popular during the Christmas season and it is easy to make. You need 500g of currants, 450g raisins, 350g butter, 450g flour, sugar, 6 eggs, 1grated orange zest 11/2 teaspoon of mix spice and 1 teaspoon nutmeg and salt. Mix the flour, spice, and salt. Add the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl. Add the eggs and beat well. The add the orange zest, flour, and dried fruit. Pour into a baking pan and bake 350F for 1 and 1/2 hour. Reduce the temperature to 300 F and bake for 30 until done.


Christmas trifle

Christmas trifle is a nice treat to prepare for dessert. Bake a plain cake and the break it into smaller pieces into a bowl. Pour red and green jelly in the bowl to form a layer. Next, pour custard and the rest of the cake mix. Spread more jelly on the layer and another custard layer.
