Ingredients
  

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons buttermilk

Instructions
 

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
  • Divide the dough in half, shape each into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface, cut out shapes, and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
