The Standard

Editorial Guidelines

How we choose what to cover, and how we work. Independent, considered, and disclosed by design.

01

What we cover

Style, design, and the considered objects of modern life. The rooms people build, the objects they keep, the rituals they refine. Less noise, more taste.

02

How we cover it

Pieces are reported. Sources are named where possible. Quotes are not invented. When we cannot confirm a claim, we leave it out rather than smooth it over.

03

Independence

Sponsored work is labeled. Recommendations are not for sale. A brand cannot pay to be praised in editorial. The line between sponsored and editorial stays bright on purpose.

04

Accuracy

We check facts before publishing. If something turns out to be wrong, we correct it openly. A correction note goes on the piece. We do not quietly edit and move on.

05

Authorship

Every piece is signed by a real editor. We do not publish unsigned filler. AI may help with research and editing; it does not write the voice.

06

Affiliate links

Some product mentions carry affiliate links. They never decide what we cover or what we recommend. If a piece would not stand without the affiliate revenue, the piece does not run.

07

Conflicts of interest

Editors disclose personal stakes in anything they cover. We do not write about brands we have an undisclosed financial relationship with.
