For her official red carpet debut with Justin Trudeau, Katy Perry did not reach for a new-off-the-runway look. She went vintage, deep into the archives, choosing a white Lanvin gown from the house's spring 1987 collection for Monday night's Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her concert film, "Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour, Live from Paris." The choice was deliberate.

The dress, with its thick halter straps, three spiral rosette appliqués at the neckline and more gathering at the waist, belongs to a Lanvin era defined by its refined take on Grecian draping. The A-line skirt floated toward the floor in soft gathers, while the rosette details added a sculptural quality that Harper's Bazaar noted could read as a subtle nod to Perry's own cone-bra costuming history. It was a look that bridged her pop-star past and something more restrained.

Perry accessorized the archival piece with a vintage white gold diamond ring from Saidian Vintage Jewels, featuring a 2.45-carat triangle-cut center stone and six baguette diamonds. Her hair was swept into a bun with wispy face-framing pieces, and her makeup stays soft: bold brows, lined eyes, a pale pink lip.

Trudeau kept it simple beside her in a black suit and white dress shirt, the two holding hands and stopping to greet fans as Perry worked the carpet. The former Canadian prime minister followed her lead as she signed autographs and posed for selfies.

The Tribeca premiere capped a year in which the couple's relationship moved from quiet dinners to very public settings. Perry and Trudeau were first spotted together in Montreal in July 2025, and he attended her Lifetimes Tour shortly after, singing along to "Teenage Dream" with his daughter.

They went Instagram official in December after a trip to Japan and surfaced together at Coachella in April. The red carpet at Tribeca was the logical next step, arriving just before the concert film hits theaters later this summer.

During the Q&A after the screening, Perry spoke openly about where she is now. "I would say now at the end of 91 shows, I feel like a more grounded person in so many aspects of my life," she said.

"I am very in love." She described her partner as "the love of my life" and herself as "a little bit like a rainbow kite, I fly super high. Sometimes I need to be anchored, so to have that anchor finally makes me feel really whole now."

Both Perry and Trudeau arrive at this moment after difficult breakups. Perry split from Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares 5-year-old daughter Daisy Dove, in 2025.

Trudeau and Sophie Grégoire announced their separation in August 2023, and he resigned as prime minister in January 2025. Perry alluded to the weight of the past year during the Q&A.

"Last year was probably one of the hardest years of my life, and I went through a f\\k-ton," she said. "There were days that were really, really hard, but I just kept going because I made a promise to my fans.

" The film itself, directed by Paul Dugdale, captures Perry's Paris stint on the Lifetimes Tour, filmed with 60 cameras across the November show. It's debuting at the Tribeca Festival alongside documentaries from Earth, Wind & Fire, Peter Frampton, and Alicia Keys.

Lanvin's decision to lend Perry a piece from nearly 40 years ago matches the house's current direction under new CEO Barbara Werschine, who joined in May. "People want to go back to elegance and formalwear and Lanvin is very accurate for that," Werschine told WWD.

"I'm French, and Parisian, so I'm deeply attached to this brand." On a night when Perry could have worn anything from any current collection, the vintage Lanvin said something specific: a new chapter, anchored in something with history.
