Jamaican Oats Porridge is an easy-to-prepare, healthy choice for breakfast.

Ah, there’s something comforting about a steaming bowl of oats porridge on a crisp morning. As I embarked on preparing this cherished breakfast, I couldn’t help but reminisce about the cozy moments it has brought to my life.

First, I filled a large pot with eight cups of water and set it on the stove to boil. As the water began to simmer, I added a touch of nostalgia – evaporated milk. It’s that secret ingredient that elevates the porridge to a level of creaminess that’s simply heavenly.

A few dried cinnamon leaves, a handful of plump raisins, and a pinch of salt were then added. In a separate bowl, I prepared the heart of the porridge – the oats. To the oats, I added a dash of nutmeg and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.

For that extra layer of flavor, I introduced a few drops of vanilla essence to the remaining two cups of water, creating a fragrant elixir that was added to the oats and mixed in. With a gentle yet enthusiastic stir, the oats mixture was incorporated into the boiling liquid. The transformation was mesmerizing, the oats swelling and absorbing the richness of the milk and spices.

As the porridge gently came to a boil, I reduced the heat. And then, the final touch, a drizzle of sweetened condensed milk. I stirred with a gentle rhythm, each motion symbolizing the love and care that had been passed down through generations.
